CentreStage Partnership Ltd
Welcome to CentreStage, one of the UK’s leading experiential learning providers. Our passion is people, and what motivates people to be high performers.
Experts in the use of role-play, real-play, forum theatre and scripted theatre we make your learning initiatives interactive, powerful and fun.
For over 20 years, we’ve been helping organisations develop and engage with their people. We know know role play isn't everyone's best thing but we work hard to put delegates at ease in order to bring your learning to life and to create learning interventions that are powerful and fun.
Bringing together a national network of highly skilled, professional actors, facilitators, role players and behavioural coaches, we combine expertise in theatre and experiential learning, knowledge of the business world and an extensive understanding of business development coaching.
Our forum theatre facilitators and experiential learning role play specialists are capable of gauging the skills, experience and learning needs of an individual and responding accordingly, as well as facilitating and providing constructive feedback sensitively and honestly. For assessment centres, our actors bring consistency to scenarios and give observers as much opportunity as possible to assess relevant competencies.
We hold up a mirror. We describe how it feels to be on the receiving end – what helps, what hinders, whether it be what’s being said or how.
Real-play is a particularly powerful experiential learning role play activity as it enables individuals to practice addressing a real-life challenge. Whether it be a tricky team member or key stakeholder, our actors recreate the key behaviours of the individual concerned, giving the delegate the chance to practise having the conversation and getting feedback about its impact.
So often, real-play leads to ‘lightbulb’ moments, participants often realising why their previous attempts to address an issue have been ineffective. Often, it’s simply about giving individuals the confidence to have those challenging conversations back in the workplace.
In these challenging times it is essential to create involving, engaging online sessions that aren’t simply dull meetings or questionnaires. Forum Theatre has always been a brilliant way of getting people talking and sharing best practice, exploring behaviours in a participatory, user-friendly way. This innovative approach offers the excitement and thrill of a truly live experience.
"Fantastic use of tech. Thank you - this was really thought provoking, and thanks also to the actors Adam and Pippa for making it very engaging!" - 'Forum Theatre Live' Delegate, Canterbury Christ Church University
…allowing delegates to respond to and influence a piece of theatre of their choosing (or ours). It takes the form of a performance involving at least two actors and a bespoke scenario which reflects your key development needs. As the action unfolds, the actors will ask delegates for guidance on how to handle the situation. Delegates can rewind the action and try different approaches so it’s immediately responsive to the needs of the course members. Forum Theatre is a brilliant way of getting people talking and sharing best practice, exploring behaviours in a participatory, user-friendly way.
It’s exciting, thought-provoking and memorable, and it’s a fantastic way of exploring and raising awareness of emotive or sensitive issues. The inclusion of acted scenes as part of a workshop allows you to send a powerful message to your audience in a way that isn’t directive or imposing.
It’s also an innovative way of showing what theory looks like in practice, how the skills models you’re using translate to behaviours and relationships in the workplace, giving participants far greater understanding.
…from initial brief to finished product, including story boarding, scripting, casting, filming and editing. An excellent tool to accompany facilitator-led learning, either as a reference guide on your intranet or as an integral part of a development programme. With a proven track-record of producing bespoke digital media, CentreStage guarantees excellent quality and value.
With a wide experience of effective communication skills Julian is a firm believer in the efficacy of drama based learning solutions.
He spent many years in hotel management both in the UK and Switzerland prior to becoming a professional actor/entertainer in 1985.
Having founded CentreStage in 2001, Julian has designed and facilitated numerous forum theatre workshops for all levels in various organisations, particularly around Customer Service, Diversity and Inclusion, Performance Review and Behavioural Safety.
Drawing on over 30 years of theatre experience Julian takes techniques from the stage to help individuals develop a more confident and dynamic communication style in both meetings and presentations.
Julian is also experienced in every aspect of bespoke video production - translating the written screenplay and learning objectives into images on the screen.
After leaving Drama School Pippa trained in hospitality before spending five years working in all aspects of the industry, including hotel conference and functions management. She then crossed the Atlantic where she spent six months teaching drama in America. On returning to the UK, Pippa spent many years working as an actress on stage, screen, TV and worked on theatre projects with patients at Broadmoor Hospital. She has written numerous plays, including various issue-based plays commissioned by the EU.
Pippa is a skilled facilitator, and is involved in delivering our Diversity Awareness and Customer Care workshops, as well as role-playing for many of our clients. She also leads on our team building workshops and has worked extensively with clients on Presentation Skills Workshops bringing her acting experience to life!
Pippa works directly with clients or alongside our learning & development partners. Pippa is heavily involved in writing both forum theatre and one to one role-play scenarios, fully implementing the client brief and creating interactions that give delegates the opportunity to practise their skills, embed learning and realise their potential. Pippa is the CentreStage lead on the recruitment and development of our network of associates across the country.
"Lucy and I can’t thank you enough for all of your support yesterday. All of the feedback we’ve heard from the team about your rotation and the forum theatre has been really positive and I think the discussion during forum theatre proved that we managed to get people thinking differently which is what we were aiming for! Please pass on our thanks to Pippa, George and Adrian too as you were all fantastic."

"Julian and Debbie were, as usual, fab! Using Theatre Forum works so
well, entertaining and a great method of learning! One of the participants this morning made a point of coming up to me and Julian and saying “thank
you for that, this is just what we needed right now as we are about to go
into these types of conversations and it really helps bringing it back into focus.”

"Hi Gerri, I just wanted to send a note to say thank you so much for the amazing team you provided for us
Every single one of your team has been fantastic – and are a credit to you.
Please pass on my personal thanks for their support, engagement, enthusiasm, professionalism etc. etc. (I could list far more)."

"Please could you pass on formal thanks to Sue & Stuart for their performances today? A couple of things stood out, apart from great acting. First they were very flexible as the gavin and dawn story evolved and we had to respond to unfolding events. Secondly, some of the delegates just couldn’t stop laughing and somehow sue and Stuart were able to ignore it, be totally professional and stay in character.
The delegates thought they were brilliant."

“I noticed a real difference in the quality of performance conversation I could have with my team after they had been on the ‘Its My Conversation’ programme. Conversations with those who had been on the programme were more meaningful, more constructive and a much better use of both of our time, compared with those who had not. I did the programme myself and found its approach deeply engaging and a very powerful learning experience.”
